Though written primarily for piano, this somewhat unusual interpretation of Schumann's Concerto I. Allegro Affettuoso features the orchestra in the driver's seat and a gypsy-like intro. Perhaps this particular arrangement is better described as a fantasia on a portion of Schumann's composition. Recorded in 1959 under the baton of Harry Lubin.

  • I never thought of it before but perhaps Lubin was greatly influenced by Schumann?

  • It sounds as much like one of Lubin's compositions for "One Step Beyond" as it sounds like Schumann.

  • So beautiful... Lubin used some of Schumann's chords and effects for his Outer Limits music...
