◘Cloud and Aerith had been together for some time. Cloud becomes a Soldier and fights for the war. During the war Aerith is captured by a monster. Throughout most of the chorus of the song Cloud is trying to reach Aerith. Aerith is who he loves and who understood him. Cloud then realizes the mistakes hes made and how hes hurt her. He only wants whats best for her. He tells her to find someone else. He knows its the right thing to do. He used her by being with Tifa and didnt pay attention to her because he was always fighting in the war. Even so Aerith is still his only one.
