  • @elnick1000 Yes, but those trailers were hardly the average. And CITIZEN KANE wasn't a commercial success at the time, despite the hype. Relatively speaking it is less action oriented, and precisely the associations with those names raised high expectations in that regard.

  • @aplantage Thankyou for your reply, but I do think their were some great trailers. The one for Psycho some 5 yrs later was a great trailer. I also would consider the Citizen Kane trailer of 1941 also to be fantastic. I just think that someone, or some people goofed big time in not helping this film to be a success. Also, I consder this film to be action oriented. The film was directed by John Sturgis, and written by Alister McClean. Two men assicated with action at the time.

  • @elnick1000 Have you seen other trailers from around the same time, including for the Bond films? They aren't much "better". It makes one think that trailers didn't make as much difference as the do today, and accordingly weren't given as much concern, at least not aesthetically. I think the major factor then as now is word of mouth. It probably wasn't a success because it's not as action and sex oriented.

  • Sadly, this film did not make the money it should have when released from what I understand. I think the beginning of the trailer did not help with Maharis introducing the trailer. He is much better in the film than the trailer. A film way ahead of its time, and worth seeing if you haven't.

  • Very close to being a `classic`. This film is ripe for remake.

  • Me i thinks is a little bit of poo poo

    ;~)

  • At 1:20, man, how realistic was it when those guys were shot! W-O-W!!

  • Maharis looks a lot like Darryl Hickman in this clip.
