At the end of the video,a rather grim looking Soviet coach pulls along by the elbow as if he is taking Pavel off to a shooting squad for missing that attempt.

@RedWildz My point is, look at China for example, they have more than three times the population that you do. Why would your population be so much better than theirs, when they have a lot more people that could potentially be really good at weightlifting?
-
@RedWildz So yeah, I think I'll have to agree that either you don't have an efficient enough way of training, or you just don't have the best in the world at weightlifting. You can't just blame it all on the steroids. I would still love to hear what your opinion is on the other sports that you're not the best at, if that's also just because of roids...
-
@RedWildz And if you compare your population to the whole world's population, you're a minority. So why in the world should US athletes be the best at everything? Especially weightlifting that is SO much technique, you can't just roid up and be the best in the world. There are plenty of people in the world who does roids, and guess what? Russia, Iran and China are still the best, of all the people who does roids. And no, I'm not from either of those countries.
-
@RedWildz I'm 100% sure that there is plenty of weightlifters in the US that also take steroids. Just because you take steroids doesn't make you good. How come you have the mentality that american athletes must be the best at everything, and if they're not, everyone else just takes more roids than you do? There are plenty of sports where the US isn't the best
-
Well, the aim is to defend the integrity of the US lifters against those who assume they are simply not talented enough to succeed -- or that the Chinese, Iranians and Russians are definitively superior athletes. There are many folks in other countries that truly believe US lifters dine on steroids daily, but that they just "suck."
-
@RedWildz I just think you're setting the bar too low when you compare like that. Everyone knows that those countries don't have the drug policies that they should have. Is it something to be proud of that you're better than Iran?
-
There are many powerlifting federations that test their lifters within the US. Beyond that, PLing is even less recgonized in the US than most Olympic sports, including weightlifting. In this case, it is most relevant to compare the US policies to Iran, Russia and China's... since those are the biggest competitors.
-
@RedWildz I completely agree, the drug policies for smaller sports are stringent and there is more than enough knowledge and potential to create world class lifter in the U.S... n anyone to say that there isn't genetic potential WELL look at pretty much all other sports that u.s funds well and actually cares about!!! U.S is more than competitive in other sports

stupid russian^^
Funny how people here seem to think that american athletes don't use steroids too, since it's so freakin' common in the USA. Yeah, everobody uses it, just not the athletes, right?

Yall realize this is youtube right? Everyone thinks their opinion matters. Don't argue with a nobody. A farmer doesn't bother telling a pig his breath smells like shit.
