Live at the Meridian Gallery in San Francisco November 9, 2011.
This performance was the third performance of a long-form, chance operation format called The Hermetic Bamboo Flute Method. This is an experimental, improvised music ritual focused on spontaneous, elemental sound explorations on 11 big bamboo flutes (well, 9 big ones and 2 "regular" kind-of-little ones). The turn of Hermetic Tarot cards determines the flute and the style of each selection. The performer connects to the moment and the Invisible; the listener experiences the arising and passing away of various sounds. This performance was facilitated by guest space-holder Felicia I. Chavez (PhD candidate in Mythological Studies, dream detective, sustainable business consultant and long-time meditation practitioner) in addition to a very appreciative and attentive audience. It was a great space and a very enjoyable event (thank you Adria Otte and Meridian).
This was the opening piece, a great card for transformation and change, which we all need more openness to, because it is always happening. The 2.45 Taimu was selected by the cards, and the piece is a "guided" improvisation.
