Playing along with a solo of the great Philly Joe Jones. This is breaks and solo on the track "Pot luck", from the Wynton Kelly album called "Kelly at Midnight".

Not sure if its a click you set but from about min 1 to the end you left out the hi-hat. To me that was one of the elements that made Philly Joe Jones such a great drummer. During his solos his hi hat never let the listener lose the form of tempo. Besides that, excellent feel and attention to detail.

Thanks az993km. Yes it's groups of 6. However the bas drum is the key. It's in groups of 3 8th notes (dotted quarters) starting on "1+". The pattern repeats every 3 bars, so the 4th bar is the same as the first. I suggest you practice the bass drum alone with the hi-hats on 2+4 to hear the polyrhythm, then add the hands. On the break Philly plays the hi hats and bass drum in unison.
