I'm going to make this a bit of an FAQ style. I'm going to reveal some of the "secrets" of FateofDestinee and answer a couple of questions I'm asked often. The first question that I'm going to address is: Where did my interest in firearms start? My parents are both involved with the military, and my brother recently joined the Army. But my interest with guns really started with my dad. My family has never been very well off, but my father did have a used Browning semi auto rifle (BAR) and an ATIS shotgun (the copy of the Browning A5). When I was eight or nine, it was a great privilege for me that once in a while, my dad would take me out to the range with him and his best friend. I didn't shoot at the time, but I did watch, and sometimes I got to spot for him. Later, I bought my own Browning semi auto rifle, just like what my dad's looked like when I was a kid. My dad has passed down the mindset to me of developing self control, focus, and challenging myself at the range. Personally, I don't have a military or law enforcement background, so I shoot because I enjoy the challenge against myself. When I go to the range, I can just pit myself against myself (I don't play team sports) and get into my "bubble." It doesn't matter how many other people are there or what they're firing because all I'm focusing on is me, the front sights, and the target. Being a perfectionist, I'm constantly pushing myself to improve some element of my shooting, grip, trigger pull, whatever. Now, I'm not claiming I'm some kind of crack shot or anything, but you can see from my vids (especially with the Beretta M9) that I've made some noticeable improvements in my accuracy. That progress is very rewarding. So, that's how my interest in the shooting sport has developed. The second question I'm often asked is: You're 22 years old and you make YouTube videos, but what do you do in "real life?" When I'm offline, I study. My majors in college are biology pre-med, and art. Ideally, I'd like to be a heart surgeon. However, if becoming a surgeon doesn't pan out, I'd like to at least teach biology at the college level. I just love it. Sometimes, I'll pick up my textbooks and read. Yep, I'm a nerd. I initially thought I'd make a terrible teacher because I'm so impatient, but I started tutoring and found it to be one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had. I tutor biology and anatomy and physiology. Although, I used to work for a clothing retail store til I got burnt out three or four years into the job. I switched to fast food. Funny enough, I actually make sandwiches for my part time gig - which is why I love perpetuating the joke about me making people sandwiches on YouTube. I work less hours at this job, and that's what allowed me increased free time, and, of course, more YouTube! The more I was on YouTube, watching other people's videos, the more I wanted to get involved. I started off with a couple of range videos off my cell phone that I asked my dad to record, just for kicks and giggles, and it has since grown into a hobby I invest a lot of time into and enjoy greatly. I probably spend about 20 hours a week interacting with people through comments, PMs, and watching others' videos, aside from the 15-20 hours of work I put into the research, recording, and pre/post production of my own vids. All together, that puts me on YouTube about 40 hours a week! I admit it: I have no life. haha But it is so much fun getting to talk with so many great people. Like getting to meet Greg and John (hickok45 and bigjohn88TN) was an honor that developed from friendly conversation with John since we started chatting six months ago. I never asked to visit their famous range, but he proposed the idea of even recording a vid or two with them. It was wonderful getting the opportunity to work with two firearms enthusiasts as skilled - and likeable - as they are. Through YT, I've also been talking with Pete from theARMORYchannel just about from the beginning of my involvement with YouTube. Pete, if you're watching: Thanks for the cool hat! And the Ballistol. I've had so many people recommend it to me, so I look forward to trying it out. That brings me to You. Thank you all for all of your support and involvement, through PMs and comments (I read, and try to respond to all of them). I really appreciate getting to talk with you and share interests. And those of you who've given my vids a thumbs up: thank you. That lets me know you like what I'm doing. For those of you who've given my vids a thumbs down: you're still not getting any sandwiches. I don't want to forget the Gunnies! I was floored even to be nominated, but to win a 1st and 2nd place and honorable mentions? That was too much. To all of you who voted for me: I don't think I deserve it, but thank you. I sincerely appreciate your support.
Good luck with your studies in school! Idk what year you are, but hopefully the job market for heart surgeons will be better than it is for criminal justice majors.
