How to Change Tools in Mach3 CNC

This is a detailed explanation of an easy method to fill out your tool table and an how to command a tool change in your G code program. Using tool change functions is one of the great features of CNC. If you have a CNC machine but youre still touching off every time you load a tool, then youre not using the full capability of your machine. This video uses the Tormach Tooling System (TTS), a design which Tormach introduced to the world in 2004 and has since become the standard quick change system for people using CNC mills with R8 or Morse #3 tapers. TTS makes tool change faster and allows off-line tool measurement, but many concepts of the video apply to any system of tooling and CNC. Check our web site for a matching sample G code that demonstrates simple tool changes. This is the code described in the video. The web site also contains numerous helpful references for machining and programming, including a detailed G code reference guide. The code guide is at http://www.tormach.com/machine_codes.html and includes graphics and matching sample programs for many of the more difficult codes.
