glad you are safety concious, doesnt take much to make a day go really bad and get ugly really quick. You probably already know swells can and do cause the rip currents. Many people die here in Florida with no/little wind, they think it safe because the waves look "innocent". But, you do have some safety with the wetsuit. I dive as well, but for me being in conditions like that is really risking it. I think your greatest danger is getting washed out with no actual way back with your machine.

nice payoff for dealing with waves/swells like that. I can see you know what you are doing, however it is still dangerous to be out in conditions like that. Video shows you pushing the limits with those waves. I dive/swim here in Florida and conditions like that produce killer rip currents. I would hope you wear some type of life jacket as if you keep this up unfortunately you will likely need it one day. I wish the best for you, just be careful, really dangerous conditions in the video.

@Digginrings Yes, I am very safety aware. The waves were fairly small actually, around the 1 to 2 foot mark with the winds blowing offshore. Having hunted this beach for the past 10 years, I know it really well and what conditions develop rip currents. I am positively buoyant with my wetsuit shorts and top (hidden under outer clothing). Once the wind turns and blows onshore (typically very late morning) then I am out of the water.

@1963Willo My son is 12 but is keen to get into this amazing hobby....I am going for 50 gold this summer but it will require a lot of (enjoyable) work.....have a good summer.
