This video is Mikaela Preston's video submission into the 2011 Google Science fair. It briefly describes her 2011 project on the population dynamics of algae systems. She tested to see whether or not increasing the biodiversity within an algae system would lead to increased stability of the system when it was faced with a sudden change in condition. Mikaela won the Platinum Best in Fair at the 2011 Canada Wide Science Fair with this project.

This project should be of interest to junior scientists at the 7th grade, 8th grade and high school level.

  • where did you get the materials from

  • @dhunna96kool The algae I bought from a Culture centre at the University of Waterloo. Other building materials I bought from places such as home depot, aquarium stores, and science stores.
