Official Response To Deaf Arrest Video In Hollywood - Its Major Failure On GLAD's Part

The arrest you saw is a major failure on G.L.A.D.'s part.

This deaf social service agency Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (G.L.A.D) http://www.gladinc.org doesn't have a thorough grip on positive relations with shopping centers in their territory as OCDAC does have positive relations with Orange County shopping centers.

Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center had an education program 3 years ago. We educated the following shopping centers on how to handle deaf customers in any situation.

These Orange County shopping centers are deaf friendly by our (OCDAC's) declaration.

You're not going to see videos like what you saw from the Hollywood shopping center coming from Orange County shopping centers.

To hearing/non ASL folks: what he is saying is that his organization, OCDAC, does not approve of the violence that occurred in Hollywood. He also states that his organization has already educated the Orange County malls (too many to name) about dealing with deaf people. He stresses that OC shopping centers have detailed instructions about how to deal with the deaf in any situation. He states also that OC shopping centers are deaf friendly places to go. How would Glad services know that there's arrest coming from forever 21xxx clothing store with deaf men? They just found out through news and saw this video happened on tv. Not major failure on GLAD's part. it was this store's MAJOR Failure for not contacting GLAD and provide an interpreter for two deaf men (both brothers). I believe that the store was educated enough to know that they're not supossed to discriminate people with disablities!
