Taiwan: President Ma Ying-jeou approves Dalai Lama visit

Exiled Titetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will visit Taiwan next week. Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou has approved his visit after he was invited by various majors and magistrates, despite the risk of a diplomatic row with Beijing.

i don't think US call it Chinese-Taipei, that is the name used by international organisation. US call it the island of taiwan without implying it is a country. PRC will only symbolically complaint since the visit will not see the government host DL. this is all good that DL comes, it doesn't really hurt Taipei nor Beijing, they might both find benefit in this. only Nixon can go to China and only a pro-China government can let DL in.

US doesn't recongnized Taiwan as a country so they could only officially call it Chinese-Taipei.

I don't think Ma ying-jeou really wanted Dalai Lama to visit(not the right time).It was DPP's idea to invite DL to a religious gethering.
