These gentle giants come to quarter mile reef at Sodwana Bay around december each year to gestate before giving birth to their young at an unknown location. They normally stay at Sodwana for around 2 or 3 months. We were lucky on this day as the visability was almost perfect and there was no surge or current to speak of and all the sharks were as curious about us as we were abouth them, giving us some very nice pictures and film footage.
Finally, the theme music, "Aqua Marina," to the corny puppet kids' show "Stingray" (done in the same manner as "Thunderbirds" and "Fireball XL-5") finds its appropriate and true utilization in this footage of some very beautiful ragged tooth/sand tiger/grey nurse sharks. The "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" music works well too (much better here than in the actual series). With these great video images of sharks, who needs those other shows anyway?
