@macprohawaii according to one of the pilots of Island Air, the Dash 7 was a larger plane then the Dash 8. I like the Dash 8...they rock.....

The runway was originally built to accommodate the Dash 7 that Hawaiian Airlines used to fly. I think that aircraft had better STOL capability than the more popular Dash 8.

JHM runway is short. I've been here before and the plane has to touch down as fast as possible to have room for stopping.

Yeah it's just about all of the Ka'anapali resort area in view there. The wheel goes over Sheraton Black Rock, then you have a few condo towers and then the Westin, Whaler's Village, Marriott and Hyatt.
