I have a question. I got three fake teeth with metal things behind them. So what type of crown is it?
-
@MrMosheMoll ok so wat the light does is when they put the special kind of cement on ur tooth aka filling the light helps it get hardened so it wont fall out

Those sound like porcelain fused to metal. sometimes these crowns are used for strength. The metal is a strong material that many dentist use to prevent a crown from breaking.

what does the light do? im wondering because im getting the 8 tooth crowned and theyre using the light. what does it do?
MrMosheMoll 11 months ago
@MrMosheMoll It's called a curing lite. The light activates the material that we are using to build up the tooth. When the light hits the material at a certain wavelength the material goes from a moldable consistency to being hard.

hey, i onlly go like a small piece of my from tooth that broke! can that be fixed?

@TheMeanKittylover2 It can be fixed. Don't freak out about it too bad. Have your parents take you to the dentist and they can take care of it.

question: these new "Cerec" machines that make the crown in the office.....are these crowns just solid porcelain (with no base metal underneath)? If yes, wouldn't those be subject to cracking alot easier than a crown with a base metal?
inkey2 1 year ago
@inkey2 Cerec and E4d(Cad-Cam) both allow the fabrication of in office crowns. The strength depends on the prep design. If the proper amount of tooth is taken away to make the crown even Cerec crowns will perform well. Also if not enough tooth is taken away on a porcelain fused to metal crown, the porcelain can stilll break. Leaving you a little metal coping on your tooth. I hope this helps.
