Yar! This bit of pirate booty was shot back in June, after I won the doubloons and the Mayan calendar featured in this video as a prize in the Frost Park Chalk-Off. I bribed people to vote for me by promising to make a video using the doubloons & calendar as props, so here's the fulfillment of that promise!

Video of the chalk-off that made this all happen:

  • Sweet! Very cool little short, and huzzah for pirates! In the skies I fly, a gang like yours would be more than welcome onboard. ;)

A few questions, out of curiosity... who makes your pirate shirts? I *think* I recognize the pattern, but I'm not totally sure.

Also, what program do you use to edit your videos? I recently found out that for bundled software, iMovie is freaking incredible.

  • @wiredproxy No idea about the shirts. I'd have to ask, and they came from multiple sources - in fact, everyone but myself and Raven furnished their own costumes. Raven and I borrowed bits and pieces from others - the shirt I'm wearing in this belongs to Jeff.

As for editing, I use Adobe Premiere Pro, and have for years. Currently using CS3, though I need to upgrade to CS4 or CS5 as soon as I can afford to, so that I can edit HD projects without format problems.

  • Holy fuck, Adam this was AWESOME! I'm JUST seeing this (because I'm looking for one of your videos that REALLY got me to subscribe to you-for my website).

Awesome, AWESOME vid (though I noticed in a few shots you wore your glasses and then they were off).

    DFTBA

  • @zottepark The glasses issue in what is technically the long shot (I cropped it significantly to reduce the appearance and obviousness of the glasses) is why this video didn't go up back in June. For a while, I was considering painting the glasses out frame-by-frame.

  • @zottepark It's good to be continuity-anal. I would have just refilmed the long shot, but I could emulate the settings for a myriad of reasons, including Shannon returning to Canada.

  • @Shannancy What if we negotiate? I'll get you exactly half of what you asked for:

    The chocolate half.

  • i loved the moment where thay all say the diferent card games thay think it is, it must have been prity chaotic.

  • @AdamTheAlien Awesome. Curiosity satisfied. :)

  • @AdamTheAlien Good deal. Simple curiosity satisfied! :)

  • @AdamTheAlien Oh man, I'm very anal when it comes to continuity. I used to have blatantly obvious continuity flaws in my short films and eventually I'd refilm the entire thing, but yeah. I'm so anal I actually would go in frame by frame and edit certain things out.

And then again there are times when I go through so much trouble to film something, notice errors, and leave them. In my "Work In Progress" video, it became so dark so fast, I just edited around it, shortened the vid by half.
