This video is just to show how a thrower can knit faster. It's my own little way of knitting that I've adapted for speed and efficiency. Hope it helps!

  • To everyone who asked, I will try to make a purl video, I just don't have much time these days, and if I can i'll redo this one to slow it down a bit. Also I'm laughing at the comment that said my nails were fake... no they aren't but thanks, I'll take that as a compliment!

  • Hattie - I have been trying to knit in the continental style because it's supposed to be faster, but I can't master it. Your technique immediately sped up my throwing. Thanks!

  • @rainperry Glad if it helped you!

  • huh. I thought myself to knit and have always just kept the yarn wrapped around my fingers like that because that's what I do when crocheting. My friend always laughs at me for it, and I'm glad I can tell her I'm not doing it wrong :p

  • @going1nsane That's exactly how I adapted for knitting, I was a crocheter first. Hey if it gets the job done how can it be wrong?

  • this is how i knit as well except i keep tension between my pinky and ring fingers. i was so confused when i watched a continental knitting video and they showed how throwers supposedly dropped the yarn. i think only beginner knitters do that when they're first learning to knit.

  • why at full speed? couldn't you slow it down for the demo...it would be nice to be taught how to do this instead of just watching the blur of your fingers.

  • I think people are coming to realise that english can be just as fast as continental. I really get a little angry when people make english out to be slower when it is not. everything takes time in knitting, people have to find their own way of tensioning to make knitting either way fast for them. Love your video. I watched a video on flicking and made an effort to keep my hands on the needles and I knit as fast as any continental knitter and I knit both ways.

  • I believe this method is called "flicking". The "Very Pink Knits" channel lady knits this way and has a video on it, I don't know if that's just her terminology though. I keep trying to do this method from continental but I just can't get into the whole right hand usage (I learned crochet first). Mainly I want to learn another knitting style to reduce repetitive stress on my hands/arms.

  • i h8 the fact that ppl down throwing, n u just proved that u can move just as fast!

  • You knit EXACTLY like I do down to the tension and pushing the needle through with your left hand. I also learned to crochet first, then knitting many years later. I"ve tried continental knitting, but I find it slow and clumsy for me.

  • I've been knitting this way for a long time. I do a lot of stranded work...and knit cont on left and this way on the right when carrying 2-3 yarn strands. Its very fast

  • Thanks I want to get away from throwing the yarn its very hard for me to knit the other way though hopefully this helps.

  • This is how my Canadian mother taught me. Very fast knitting and purling, and makes k1p1 very easy.
