This stair was 3 inches to wide and needed to be thinner.
Only one tool for the job, The Band Saw. I was so impressed with the cut I invited a friend from our local S.A.W. club to video tape it.
A perfect cut,
I saved the stringer with the treads and risers still glued and screwed, then nocked off the nosings and reglued and screwed.
Leaving me with enough over hang (1/8") to rout the tread and risers true.
The stair is now stronger because the saw tooth of the stringer is now reinforced with the original tread and rise.
The Ultimate Band Saw Cut.

Man ! You want your head chopped or what ???…
You leave co much space between the upper part of the wood being cut and the protection that the blade may well break any time … It's ok (for you) as long as you don't approach the blade on the side, but that's exactly what you do at the en of the cutting.
On the top of the don't tell me you had a straight cut : I won't believe you anyway, it's almost impossible.

how many nails or screws did you cut in the back risers and squeak blocks

It certainly did the job in neat fashion. A second guy and a chip mask for safety.
