Welcome to Villa Angela Heritage House in Vigan, Ilocos Sur

Mara Verzosa takes us on a tour of Villa Angela Heritage House, a typical 1850's Vigan house, now transformed into the city's most charming pensione hotel. It stands proudly on a 2,000 square meter lot as a shining example of a Vigan Heritage House. Being a rich depository of the Verzosa Family's relics and memorabilia acquired through the years, Villa Angela remains a showcase of the family's past and present standing in the Vigan community. The house has been continuously maintained to be as elegant as it was over 100 years ago. The rooms are filled with antique furniture seen only in big colonial houses. The huge garden is used for social functions as well as the vintage carriage.

The upper floor was occupied for many years by a relative's family. The heritage house underwent restoration in the late 80's and when completed, was used as venue for the golden wedding anniversary of Engr. Candelario and Dra. Purificacion Verzosa in 1987. It has been used as location scenes of many movies (Rizal documentaries, Maruja, etc) and American movie actor Tom Cruise occupied the house for 6 months while on location shooting here of his "Born on the 4th of July" film.

Dra Puring Versoza was a good friend of my lola. My lola was Pagpandayan.Thanks for sharing your videos it brings back a lot of memories about my childhood, very nostalgic.The streets that we used to walk to from "laud" to "daya" to visit my mom's side of the family. The parks that we used to play at as kids.A lot has change,we left Vigan over 20 yrs ago.
