How many times have you seen the Hoosiers, Rudy, and Rocky story where the underdog overcomes the insurmountable odds to be the "one-in-a-million" hero that succeeds? I'm guessing many. Well what about the stories of the ones that don't succeed? The "999,999" others that fail. Who tells their story??? EDEN COURT does.
Eden Court is the dramatic yet humorous story of a washed up baseball star living in a trailer park trying to escape his current world by running off to Australia in pursuit of his "American Dream." The only problem is thatit's his 30th birthday and his wife, family, and friends won't let him leave home without a fight. Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!: Miami, Balls of Fury), Kimberly Williams-Paisley (Father of the Bride, We are Marshall, and According to Jim), Stephnie Weir (MadTV) and Christian Finnegan (Chappelle's Show) star in the film. The film is a great blend of hilarious comedy and sweet romance.
Eden Court is a dramatic comedy that tells the story of a former all-star baseball player named Shroeder Duncan (Thomas Lennon) living in a trailer park with his wife Bonnie (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) and his pursuit of the "American Dream." Shroeder awakens on his 30th birthday, and decides it's time to search for a more meaningful life than offered by the trailer-park existence to which he and Bonnie are confined. An injury ruined Shroeder's promising career in professional baseball and his choices in life have since failed to grant him the "American Dream." Set against the backdrop of minor league baseball, Shroeder settles for work as a grounds keeper at a local minor league baseball park and becomes increasingly frustrated as the ball players go on to achieve the success he always wanted. Inspired by a late night infomercial, Shroeder decides to pack up, leave his wife and job, and start the search for his "American Dream" in Australia! But before Shroeder can leave, Bonnie, his good-natured and devoted wife, Barb (Stephnie Weir), Bonnie's best friend and resident alcoholic, and Carl (Christian Finnegan), Shroeder's best friend and co-worker, prove to be too disruptive of a force in Shroeder's plan.Ultimately, Shroeder has to choose his dream; life on the road alone or life together at home in their trailer park of paradise called Eden Court.
Eden Court is based on the off-Broadway play written by Murphy Guyer, and originally produced for the stage in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and other cities. Previous incarnations of Eden Court garnered strong and favorable acclaim featuring the likes of Holly Hunter, Penny Marshall, and Ellen Barkin. The film features Tom Lennon's dark and dramatic role as a former washed up baseball star trying to put his life back together, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley's (Father of the Bride) warm and compassionate performance as his wife who tries to help piece it all together. It's a great blend of sweet, sad, and funny.
Really great! I can't wait to see this movie. It looks like it's going to be pretty funny. Rock out...
