Today a little girl came to my door selling magazines. I asked her why she was selling magazines door to door. She said she needed money for college. It hurt me to know that she would NEVER sell enough magazines in this lifetime to pay for college. College education should be free we need to help send our kids to school. How many wonderful minds have never had a chance due to being born into poverty. Communist countries can give free education and we cannot??? Someone explain this!!!!

@kingpin1748 i agree that these wars have cost too much in blood and money. i see no reason for someone else to pay for my college...no matter how much money they earn. the GI Bill paid for my college but i had to serve 4 years in the military and a couple tours in combat.....that option was better than some handout from the government!! we need to bring our troops home to get ready to fight these damn communists protestors here in our own country.

@usaf317 well it costs us 110 billion for wars we can't win compared to 68 billion for higher education, which sounds better. Also it would only take an extra 2% for the highest wage earners on taxes to pay it all.

...Also, and I don't understand what you mean by 10 000 people competing for a significantly lower number of jobs in current society. By making university free, the competitiveness would be much more superior...

I totally agree, because you are so in debt when you are finished it almost impossible to pay it because of not getting a job position in your field of study. I felt when I was done, I felt I graduated from a bigger high school.
