This is a lesson on how to play the intro to take five. The groove pretty much stays the same throughout the piece and with just this one pattern you could get through the piece. Link to sheet music. https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B2lJIXKFr6AsYzg0NmVkNWYtZWFkZS00NTgxLThi...

  • nice clear info there man, now i wnt to learn the solo :D

any chance of a video of improvisation skills so i can rob an idea or two off ya?

    hahaha

  • @sometinecool It has been some time since I have really played a lot of jazz. Used to gig a few time a week with a jazz trio but that was about 3 years ago. My jazz chops have suffered the consequences of not using them, but I am starting to practice jazz stuff again and when I get my chops back up I will put some stuff up for you to steal :).

  • Hi .. I'm on youtube and I enjoy your video but cannot find the "decsription" to get the transcription... Where is it located.

BTW the HH can also be played on 2,3 and 5.. I've seen joe play it this way.

  • @kenshireen Right under the thumbs up thumbs down. You might have to click the double down arrow to make the box expand. Let me know if that helps.

  • thanks this was very helpful, but where is this transcription you keep mentioning?

  • @mildlyconfundeled It is up now. It took me a little while to get it on line. check the description.

  • Great lesson, many thanks. Been trying to nail this for years..very clear and helpful lesson..

  • Great song! And great way of teaching it dude! Really good job!

  • Thanks for your video, its very helpful! The Zildjian cymbal could be one of the K series, just if you still don't know it. Anyway it sounds great :-) And sorry for my poor English.

  • The hardest part of this video was the inclusion of the snare. Before I decided to start playing jazz drums, I thought double bass in metal like KsE and All That Remains was hard. Now I know that odd times, ghost notes and swinging is much much harder. Thanks for the video

  • You are so a good teacher!! I wish I could had a teacher like you when I started learning how to play drums...

    (sorry about my English...)

  • nice one son
