  • The crew completed the parking checklist (parking brakes were set) and was preparing to exit the aircraft when they were notified that the aircraft was rolling backwards. The Captain quickly returned to his seat and applied brakes. The first application reportedly had little resistance and did not slow the aircraft. His second application had no resistance with pedals fully depressed. The aircraft continued to roll aft into the middle of the ramp.

  • Shouldn't you put safety shoes under the door?

  • American Airlines is hiring, just not ground crew but bankruptcy lawyers...

  • THe way forward is to not be critical towards people for making a mistake like this. People in life are often persecuted far to harshly for mistakes that anybody could make.

  • lol

  • Please refer to "Pilots in poo poo"

  • Iv seen a jet bridge lift a 747 before ripping the door off.

  • I can just see it now, the handset starts ringing and the stewardess picks it up "How are you enjoying your first day, Jessica?" "Oh, I'm loving it, Kelly! Quick question, the door just ripped off the plane, now thats not normal is it?"

"Oh, so that's what all that noise was! I thought you'd crashed the trolley again!"

"Nope! Havent done that again! So what about the door?" "Oh no honey, that's not normal!"

"Oh, I didn't think so! Never mind!"

    "Bye Bye!"

  • @Neanderthalmanny Maybe there was, but that's a less involved repair than if the door frame or other supporting structures were damaged. This is all speculative since, AFAIK, we don't know the actual details of the damage to the plane. Would be interesting to find out.

  • LMAO
