The only part I didn't like about this story was letting the Vet walk down the hallway with your dog while you said goodbye. I was right there in the room when my dog passed away. He died with his head in my arms. You owe it to them to be there for them right at the end so they can pass away with ease and calm knowing your there with them...

@verytallone That part has always bothered me, too. I have had two dogs put to sleep over the years, and I insisted on being with them when they passed. Some people just can't bear to watch their pet die. I guess that's why the author chose to end it that way.

I just don't understand why people put there dogs to sleep i know people have there reasons but i can't think why i should or would i never have and i never would.

This is a great story. Dogs are part of families just like children. I am glad to see you took care of your dog it's whole life and were there till the end. Too many stories on here are about animal abuse and it disgusts me to think that anyone could abuse innocent animals. My dog is 13 and I know the time will come in a few years to have to let her go so I try to spend as much time as possible with her. I will be there for her when she goes to help ease her pain and to let her know it is ok an

same with my faithful Akitas at my boreding house there are white and brown Japanesse Spitz bot Yogy and Mawy are same colors of my Japanesse Spitz Akita but the white one (Mawy) is a girl and brown one(Yogy) is a boy but they have 3 babies but the grey one was actually from the bording house the one is brown(Girl) named Nikka and white one with dark brown on its face(boy) named Boch or Bouch and the grey one(girl) named Kim Kim was still not old but Nikka and Bouch were gone
