It is worth to love Ukraine for such songs..

#1 bass in a world

@aserdiuk very true... sad, desperate and beautiful. Not to speak of the outstanding voice of Borys Hmyria
-
One of the greatest singers of the world!
-
You can find his songs/albums on iTunes. Search under "Ukrainian" or "Gmyrya"

this reminds me of my papa and his friends sitting around talking fluent ukrainian, drinking, laughing but there souls drifted off to the families they never saw again when this came on si die,si die ect but there was a hauntingly strong feeling when these men got together which jelby banduru sums up
-
my dad told me this song is about a bandurist who makes ready his bandura =a spirit of the life and love
-
not jealoby bandurist???
-
This is "I will take a bandura and play what songs I know".Bandura is a multistringed mandolin type of Ukrainian instrument. I am 66 years old and had this record in 1960.Just like hearing from an old friend again!

The title can be translated as 'I Would Take My Bandura'.
Lyrics by Myhailo Petrenko, though many think it is a folk song - it really expresses ukrainian soul as it's a love song, beautiful and sad at the same time.
