Severely-Autistic Young Adult with Challenging Behaviors (typically hits self with fists) Hits Piano Keys and Gets Excicted about it. Good example of autistic people's potential, despite severity of disorder. Also shows importance of using re-direction and creative pro-active interventions in preventing self-injurious outbursts in autistic persons. autismus autisme autismo autizmus स्वलीनता αυτισμό 자폐성 аўтызм awtistiaeth التوحد

  • I love seeing Jamie. Do you think you'd ever make a movie about him?

  • @rainnken2000 I would like a movie to made about him, I'm not the best person to do it, however, since it's too emotional, I'd rather have other people play the roles. I wonder what actress could do it? And who but Leonardo di capro play Jamey lol...his performace in Gilbert Grape was the best I've ever seen an actor do. Mmm any ideas? Who could play all these parts? Maybe someone could write a screen play? Our happy ending is winning the home health nursing

  • I was wondering what kind of food James can eat? Is he allergic to anything. I work with an autistic child and he is severely allergic to nuts, milk and gluten. Can he eat solid good or do you usually blend his food? Does he enjoy cold food such a smoothies or hot one like soup?

  • @aureliefregeau He loves sweet potatoes, mashed foods, crackers, Big Macs (cut up), puree's with veggies, etc...not allergic to any foods we know of, but try to keep on gluten free as much as possible anyway

  • This in school or he has physical therapy in this room

  • @TypesEvilAspieEyes This was at a library

  • What about a toy piano that has light up keys in different colors? The volume can usually be changed on those also to make it not so loud for him. Just think the colors would be more attractive. Playskool has lots of instruments that light up and make noise he may like? Some even teach different things. Please know I'm not trying to seem demeaning towards Jamey, I know he is an adult but still those toys are fun to play with :) lol, also figure they may catch his attention a little better.

  • Loved seeing him interact with his nurse (ps. love this nurse too)! What a great clip, thanks for sharing xox

  • Have you thought about doing some type of therapy to help desensitize Jamey's senses.

One thing the therapists did for me when I was younger was that they would brush my arm with a brush with plastic bristles to desensitize my sense of touch.

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE OF YOUR VIDEOS. I LOVE HOW EXCITED HE GETS ABOUT THE PIANO. HE IS AWESOME.

  • this just shows that even the suvere autistic mind is intelegent, I could realy use headphones like that I'm moderte low funtinging not to that extent I have learned for a lot of years computer typing I'm not not very verbal.

  • Hey, great videos. Keep up with the piano. You never know when there will be a breakthrough. Something about the autistic mind just clicks with music. It's logical and sensorily pleasing, as long as it isn't too loud. My older brother has sensory sensitivities with his hands, so he doesn't like to touch anything knew, but he loves music of any kind. He always cracks up when he hears me on the keyboard, and the wonderful thing is- he doesn't care that I totally stink! :D

  • Awwww how cute when he has a happy outburst!!!!!

  • I'm curious about his reaction if his headphones were electronically connected to the piano/organ, getting instant feedback from the key presses. And also simple harmonic chords. I studied harmonics in calculus, and they're supposed to have vibrations that we react to. Thanks for sharing the vid.

  • Merry christmas jamey!!! God bless you both

  • @CDFoakley Big macs :) I would just like to say that you have such an amazing supportive family. Prior to watching your videos I was debating between two different career choices (one being working with children who have autism) but getting to know Jamie has converted me. Thank you so much. I look forward to more videos. :)
