Former Cougar Defensive Lineman Gary Larsen recalls the '72 Apple Cup, the day he was part of a winning Cougar squad that sacked Husky QB Sonny Sixkiller seven times, forced three interceptions and helped lead the Cougs to a 27-10 victory at Joe Albi Stadium. KXLY4's Rick Lukens reports.
I would have to say Sonny Sixkiller was one of the most accurate quarterbacks for the Huskies. I should know because he hit me square in the back from about 45 yards away while I was sitting on the sideline marker during practice at the 1973 Hula Bowl. This was his way of saying "MOVE" even though I was not interfering in any way with their practice. In my opinion, Sunny Sixkiller is a shmuck and I'm glad Gary Larsen rang his bell a few times.
