  • Thanx again for these uploads. Always good to see Prof Dawkins highlighting the ignorance of rligious like beliefs and the damage it causes. I'm thinking that he still isn't really famous enough to influence the appropriate masses of people, which is a shame. Also, I think there is no chance that religion will ever go out of fashion. People are just too stuborn about their views and refuse to see the light. I also think religion can be a good thing if it is used for moral enforcement. Kyle x

  • Glad to help.

That said, you had me until the last sentence.

  • What an absolute treasure to mankind professor dawkins is. We must, as he says, educate educate and educate our children.

I am a PhD student of biochemical engineering but I'm temped to leave and become a primary school teacher. Primary and not biology? Well I can influsence younger minds teaching primary education.

I've no children of my own but I always try to influence other children towards scientific viewpoints.

Long live Professor dawkins, this video should be seen by the masses!

  • I agree with MonticelloMark.

Religion can frequently be a poor moral guide. Besides.... which religion would guide you? Which part of that religion? What about the bible's condemnation of homosexuals?

Even if religion *were* a "moral beacon", is it worth perpetuating a falsehood on the masses to achieve your ends?

How about we stick with rationality?

  • I found the discussion of 'purpose' totally fascinating.

Many people (usually of religious persuasion) like to rant about how Dawkins does nothing but badmouth religion and faith, but in truth he is a scientist and his grasp of evolution by natural selection is supreme.

His ability to discuss in accesible terms highly complex ideas is a credit to him as one of the great educators of our time!

    Props to Professor Dawkins!

  • Wonderful series. Thanks

  • Big thanks MonticelloMark! ...and thanks for the sequential links by video responses!

  • Thanks for posting these!

  • But let me make myself clear, I am a man of science and approach things with rational thought. I cannot agree more with everything Prof Dawkins says. I agree with Jadegreenall who just said that education is the key. This is true on so many levels & applies to not only religion, but racism and all obviously all other ignorant views. Hence the word ignorant.

I was brought up to believe in God. But I had a mind of my own & saw the light. But I was a strange child lol. This shows there is hope x

  • ...In those parts of the world, it is very hot & in those times, there was no refrigeration. Therefore, meat, and PORK in particular, would go rancid in such heat and cause alot of food poisoning and associated nastiness. Mohammad being a clever and perceptive man relised pork was a real threat to survival due to it going off quickly & he made it the word of God that Pork was not to be eaten. Because evryone was strictly religious, they followed this rule and many lives were saved.

An example of good comming out of Islam... Oh yes, ISLAM!!! hahaha. Muslims do not eat pork. Why? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Mohammad said that Allah basically didnt want them to eat pig meat...
