they were ahead of their time. it's weird how powerful music is in it's ability to bring back the "feel" of an era. Same thing with smell. Heck play this along with a clove cigaret and it might transport me back to the 80's.

CT's first really great recording..imo

He knows the use of ashes.

they also collaborate on This Mortal Coil. More excellent music!!!
-
@MordaciousFilms: the lyrics mean nothing and everything - that's what makes them so poetic and haunting.

The Cocteau Twins produced the most beautiful, ageless, original sound ever recorded by any modern band, as far as I'm concerned. Hearing this song takes me back to the time when I was first into their music, but it never reminds me of anything else in the world of music that was happening at that time. That's the magic of their music. It exists in it's own special place in time, just the music and the listener.

This has a certain Majesty about it.

Oh i have this on vinyl somewhere in Australia!

I think it is PVC-glue dropped on water and then a macro photo is made of it. Really awesome texture.
-
still beautiful after all these years, yes!! :D
-
@TheNewJamesDean Robin had to do all the sounds himself as it was before digital

reminds me at sisters of mercy

What I love most about Cocteau Twins is, it's always so catchy and haunting, and I can never understand what she's saying! Didn't she say that the lyrics really mean nothing?
-
I love Cocteau Twins, simply magic and eternal !

Musical Extasy....

@TheNewJamesDean On Cocteau Twins music...Robin Guthrie plays multiple layers of effected guitars, Simon Raymonde plays bass and occasional keyboards and the drums were usually electronic. Liz F. does multi-layered vocals...all are awesome musicians!

Great track of a great record. But my fave is "Garlands"...
-
Takes me back to the 80s and listening to Head over Heels very loud.
The album cover is still fascinating .....
-
nice one...

Great layering with the sounds. Sadly I can't tell wether it's studio techniques or the band doing that!..... Anyone?

I was working in a record shop when this came out. I'd got GARLANDS on tape and quite liked it.
Put it on, and WOW !!! This was the 1st track I played...and I'm still playing it 26 years later !
