  • I first heard this wonderful recording at San Sylmar - it was used to time the visitor's views of the fantastic automobile collection. The gorgeous Louis XV piano was up on a elevated balcony. I fell in love with this wonderful performance of the waltzes from Der Rosenkavalier, arranged and played by the great Charles Cooper, who was born and who also died in native San Francisco. He studied under the great Harold Bauer.

  • Sorry to say that, but this is one of the worst renditions of Rosenkavalier I've ever heard.

  • @ampicob I have been looking for this music the longest time. Like you, I first heard this Der Rosenklavier waltz in San Sylmar, Los Angeles at the Nethercutt Museum. On the tour I also heard music as actually played in real time and recorded on paper by Sergei Rachmaninoff one hot summer evening in Philadelphia in 1944. It was wonderful.

  • Dog has good taste.

  • It might be the recording but your piano sounds a bit out of tune. A beautiful M&H like yours should also have a full, rich tone, which is not coming through at all - really missing out on the beauty of the music. How 'bout a few shots of the reproducing movement and the keyboard instead of just a still of the piano?

  • Something's up with the Internet. I heard 3 seconds of silence then nothing, it froze. But you never know, it'll probably start on its own in a minute.

Sorry I haven't written you since you sent this.

We had our party so that's done. Just sittin' around the house doing errands today, hope you're fine.

    Love,
