@AMomentOfClarity2011 We do know what happened behind closed doors NOW, even from hundreds of years ago. You cannot condemn all the nuns and priests for the crimes of the few and the crimes of the more powerful who participated or who knew.

@irishxxkelt "The number of priests and nuns who molested children are minority." They are the ones that got caught. The Church has had power over people for thousands of years, imagine what was happening behind closed doors. Remember the church itself did all it could to blackmail, manipulate, obscure and defend these priests and nuns. Only via tremendous effort are they being dragged kicking and screaming to justice. The Pope was part of the coverup. Not all are bad, true, but enough are.

@irishxxkelt "I am born-again and all hell cannot stop me". Thinking like that leads to terrible things if you are not careful. The only hell is the one we make.
The person's motives for interpreting the past, especially religious pasts, can be a deciding factor. If you accept his word, JUST because he repeats what you believe, despite the FACT that his arguements are obsolete nowadays, leads you down a dark path.
May reason light your mind.
