  • I hate IG as much as the next guy...but you don't have to register your copyright to retain copyright protection. All Bores has to do is fix his original product in a tangible medium of expression and he has protection. Copyright law is funny like that. So when he posts his videos, he gains protection. It's a little more complicated than that, but that's the general idea.

Anybody can claim basic copyright (as in, don't copy me since that's not fair), but the thing here is that Y2B needs a valid copyright in order to actually make his infringement claims legal.

You also have to consider that, even with a fully valid copyright, most of the removed material is considered Fair Use, so that's also infringement of Copyright Law.

  • I see what you're saying...you're saying Bores is infringing someone else's copyright to begin with so he can't rightfully claim copyright protection of his own.

You lost me at your Fair Use definition though. Since he's using copyrighted material for "informational" or "review" purposes, I'd say he falls under Fair Use...just in the same way the IG parodies do.

At any rate, I think you're doing a good job and you should consider law school if you want. I took Copyright Law last year.

  • @fredottman

No, I didn't mean that. What I meant was that Y2B needs a licensed and valid copyright in order to stake copyright claims on Youtube. Since Y2B has neglected to do so, every time a video is pulled for copyright infringement, there are no legal grounds to do so, since no copyright exists to legally infringe.

As for Fair Use, I meant the videos that he pulled. Even if he DID have a valid copyright, the videos he pulled were protected under Fair Use.

  • You also have to consider that the AVGN and Cinemassacre do not have valid copyrights either. So, what Chris Bores is doing plagiarism-wise is perfectly legal.

Yet, the content in the removed videos were protected under the Fair Use policy. Removal of protected material (like what WMG is doing) is against the law.

I never accused the IRATE Gamer of plagiarism. His material is part of the public domain, which cannot be used as grounds for copyright infringement, until he gets a valid copyright.

  • I just e-mailed Youtube about this. I outlined exactly what the IRATE Gamer is doing wrong on this site. Now, the war is coming back to him.

    ...What have I done?!

  • I just like watching the clips of the old video games, had not heard of AVGN, but will look him up. Its funny when geeks argue via the Internet, @getalife.cok

  • This video deserves more views

  • we all know Y2B productions is fake, because james has Cinemassacre, chris needs a producer too, ask chris what does Y2B mean, and if its real, he'll ignore you

  • I can't believe that the Irate gamer is deleating people video for no reason.

  • this is a lawsuit if i ever saw one, good job

  • Obviously.

  • Heh, well I wouldn't say ALL of his subscribers are trolls, I'm sure there's several hundred who actually ARE ignorant enough to believe that the Irate Gamer came before the Angry Video Game Nerd, and a lot of other fans just have disagreeable views, then there's the people who watch him because he's funny for all the wrong reasons (only funny when he's not trying to be funny, how inaccurate his research is for example), but a lot more of them are just trolling, like me, and that's for certain.

  • @IRATEGAMERFANBOI

Now I'm having a feeling ALL IG fans are trolls... I don't think anyone likes IG... Unless they haven't heard of AVGN... : /
