I never particularly liked this song but Darin did something to make it catchy. Bobby of course was not only a great jazz and rock performer, he actually understood musical composition and scoring. Note the ticklish counterpoints, fine flourishes and swirling rondeaus in his performances. Bands and conductors found him challenging but rewarding to work with.

I never particularly liked this song but Darin has done something to it that makes it catchy. Bobby of course was not only a rock and jazz performer but actually knew his onions in musical scoring, instrumentation, flourishes and counterpoint. Bands and conductors found him somewhat difficult to work with but his improvisations worked magic on the music.
