Memories! Grew up in Doraville in the early 70's. Moved to Chamblee then went to Peahtree High. Saw ARS many times, was great fun!

Doraville used to be awesome. Now it's a POLICE STATE, like the rest of metro Atlanta. I wouldn't reccomend anyone go there nowadays...

Some of the photos, were from Chamblee. But then again Chamblee, Doraville, & Norcross all run together. I'm not sure how Doraville was in the early 70's. But in the mid 80's, It was white, blue collar neighborhood of ATL, That severed at a Railroad Hub for the Gasoline Co.'s Holding Tanks. GM Plant, & the MARTA End Station. & In the 90's&00, it turned into TMT = Tijuana, meets Tokyo. Most Sign are written in Spanish, Chines, Korean & other languages.
But DAM the best food can be found there

One of my other favorite ARS songs after Angel. I grew up in Tucker and spent some time in Doraville. Anyone remember the big tank farm fire in 1971?

the closest i ever came to being murdered was in doraville, at the MARTA station. after the McCartney concert, a young mom, her teen girl and i all missed the n'bound split and wound up at doraville at 3am, surrounded by black thugs - licking their chops at the white women.
i was all that stood between them and God-knows-what...and the thugs said i wouldnt slow em down much...God sent that last train out of the night to get us outta there.
wanna ruin a town? let the blacks have it. animals!

Does anyone remember Jan Spillman?

@TrixieinDixie YES! :D I know her! She was my 2nd grade teacher. I won't post her first name since this is the internet, but I remember your mother. I doubt she'd remember me because that was so long ago. I think I was in her class in 1980 or '81. It's weird to think about because that seems so long ago. The principal's name was Mr. Kendricks. Your mom was a cool teacher. I hope she's doing well.

@mxlemore - last name "Christian" - she taught 1st and 2nd grade - retired officially in 1995, but subbed until the 2009/10 school year.
Great slide show! I love to get some Vietnamese soup or barbecue! Love the shots of the GM Plant and the kudzu. Someday, the US will prosper again that plant will be open and the State of Georgia will institute a kudzu eradication program. Then everyone will have a job!!!
Thank you for posting!!!!
