02 Fantastic Planet - La Planète sauvage

The film depicts a future in which human beings, known as "Oms" (a word play on the French-language word hommes, meaning men), have been brought by the giant Draags to the Draags' home planet, where they are kept as pets (with collars). The Draags are an alien race which is humanoid in shape but hundred times larger than humans, with blue skin, fanlike earlobes and huge, protruding eyes. The Draags also live much longer than human beings -- one Draag week equals a human year. Some Oms are domesticated as pets, but others run wild, and are periodically exterminated. The Draags' treatment of the Oms is ironically contrasted with their high level of technological and spiritual development.

@fringeelements I disagree. The original message was about the occupation of the then chekoslovakia by kommunist russia (that was the original message of the novel this is based on). Also remember that they are Alien, and have Alien thinking, and very arrogant. They assume humans cant possibly seriously revolt against them. The Aliens are the russian "Giants" understemating the pathetic "dwarf" humans (Chekoslovakian Nation). But I can definetly understand youre point.

Trippy and all, but the message is unbelievable. Animals that show signs of the slightest intelligence are put in captivity and in a program designed to teach them how to read and sign - like with chimps. The notion that they would have these little human pets for so long without realizing that they were as innately intelligent as them breaks the fantasy.
