WHEC-TV (Channel 10) reports on the annual Finger Lakes Regional FIRST Robotics Competition held at Rochester Institute of Technology's Gordon Field House and Activities Center.
Anchor: Some of Rochester's brightest teenagers built their own rock-em sock-em robots and put them to the test at the fifth annual Fiinger Lakes Regional FIRST Robotics Competition at RIT. This year's challenge was to build a robot that could scoop up balls from the surface of the moon. Teams from as far away as Idaho came to Rochester today to take part in the robot games.
Rich Gordon: We're known around the country as one of the high technical competitions, so teams come here because of the high level of competition because of the local teams that we have here in the technology and the companies that sponsor these teams with the engineering mentors have upped the play here so much that teams want to be here.
Anchors: The robotics competition continues tomorrow at RIT. It looks like a lot of fun. Yes, some smart kids there.
