For those of you askin what they used. it was Magnesium ribbon or powder more than likely just some ribbon/powder bunched togther Mg ribbon can be easly bought online from hobby stores.

Lol @ at the person who suggested it was thermite... its magnesium. Thermite would keep burning for several minutes, with no severe flash.

Nonono silly people, when a flashbang goes off, it causes your eyes to close and your unsharp mask to be severely visible (imagine a really big camera flash right pointing right into your eyes), causes your vision to negate and "pause".
The loud bang, caused by a contained explosion, makes the balance sensors in your inner ear vibrate at a very high frequency, throwing off your balance.
Overall, you become disoriented and blind.
