Saw this documentary a few months ago and it was actually pretty good.

reminds me of koyanisqatsi somehow...especially the part with pruit igoe...probably just the combo of abandoned buildings and music but all the same...

One of two reasons typically. Power is left on to deter street mining of the copper wires or power is restored during abatement prior to demolition.
