@TheEgg185 yeah, 10 bucks was a good clip of cash back then. Even though the movements were crude in the timex they were durable. In fact the raw "Model T" like crudeness is most likely what made them last so long. Expensive watches have "jewel fittings" which will make the watch last longer "if it does not get banged around"......jewel fittings are delicate.....a good wack against something will break them
$9.95 had to be a LOT of money back then.i mean even today you can get a watch for $10-20. So for a watch to cost $10 in 1950, that means the watch had to be like $100 or something.
Nellie the dolphin in that ad still lives today. She just turned 57 years old and is the longest living bottlenose dolphin in the world. The average age of such dolphins in the wild is 30 years. She lives at the Marineland NJ. Love live Nellie.
I'm looking for a vintage Timex commercial that features a barefoot water skier with the watch strapped under his foot. Why can't I find this add? It was our boat that was towing him.
TIMEX is like Coke, Oscar Meyer Hot Dogs, Alka Seltzer, and Chevrolet - When you think of these products you think of America - we grew up with them and so did our grandparents. Thanks for the memory!

Nellie was born at Marineland FL (not NJ) in 1953 and is still there. I saw her when I went there earlier this month! :) Fun video. Thx!
