@djmusicjac Kraftwerk hated him cos they thought he just ripped em off but the problem was they were taking years at that point to knock out a album (Sublime them albums are) & he was doing it without all their tech. Don't forget people us Brits are the best at taking something & putting it on a different plane. Give back to the people who invented it & blow em out of the water.

Idiots! He clearly contradicts the narrator's interpretation. "Cars" is nothing literary nor profound. Just about how he feels safer in one - where no street hoodlums can kick your ass.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm not terribly familiar with Ballard, unfortunately, but I've seen this documentary several times and have always been perturbed at that part. Thank you for the clever commentary.

The Gabrielle Drake clip is taken from an old 70's BBC documentary on JG Ballard. The clip never had anything to do with Gary Numan until some bright spark on Synth Britannia decided to brilliantly combine the images with Numans song.
