100 years of the Territorial Army - a parade in Reigate with the Mayor, Cllr. Mrs Dorothy Ross-Tomlin, MP Crispin Blunt and the Mayor's Chaplain, Rev. David M.M.Skitt.
It's a bit wobbly but never mind eh?
Regarding the history of the Territorial Army and Reigate - also the UK Army Medical Services, you may like to refer to http://www.relax-well.co.uk/Gangrene_medicine.html for an interesting story of an Old Reigatian, TA Major General P. Mitchiner who saved the life of a little girl, 5 years old, by applying a new kind of medicine - phage? In 1929 the doctors described it to her family as "gangrene medicine discovered in the Great War" and she made a wonderful recovery, going on to work in Winston Churchill's Cabinet War Rooms and telling that unique story to thousands of children, including the archives of the Imperial War Museum. In her 80's now, she is alive today to tell the tale. The news about the "gangrene medicine" is uncovered by Winston Churchill Fellow, Grace Filby who has known Myra's family for over 50 years in Reigate, Surrey.
TA Major General P. Mitchiner had a very distinguished medical career. At St. Thomas's Hospital, London and Salonika (Serbia/Greece) during WW1, he worked alongside the scientific phage pioneer Dr. Frederick Twort and went on to greater things, by 1952 becoming the Honorary Surgeon to Her Majesty The Queen. The historical details are well-documented.
Major General P. Mitchiner of Reigate, Surrey would have been one of the founder members of the Territorial Army (Medical Services).

I appreciate Crispin Blunt as a person, but his backing for the lethal invasion of Iraq was possibly a wrong descision.
