Defense to a Straight or Street Punch

A few points for the skeptics:
1. A person standing in front of you with the intent on takin gyour head off you KNOW he's going to swing. Based on his foot placement you KNOW what hand he has to swing with to hit you (basic boxing).
2.This block will work & it sets you up for a variety of other attacks, even if he throws a quick jab. You slipping (or swimming as Sensei says) that punch neutralizes his left hand because you are on the outside, pick youpoison to finish him off. OUS!

dropping your body like that is the last thing you'd want to do to SIMPLY throw an elbow to the body... Secondly, why would you WANT to elbow the body anyways? It'd be MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to just do a single/double from this position. peace.

@dwddindin Shotokan, Wing Chun, and Muay Thai don't count? This technique can work, but like I posted a while back, it relies on you moving your entire body before they can swing their arm, it's not very practical.

@jesuriah hey smart one you if you actually studied any martial arts then youl understand that the elbow blow would actually do some damage liike a simple round house kick they look weak but can easly knok some random guy out
-
@jesuriah yes you right it isn't practical from normal guy's point of view but as u can see this is karate u have to practice this for long time and beside moving ENTIRE body is the best idea to avoid punch but as i said u have to be very well trained to do this cuz karate is very technical martial art this is not like krav maga which in my opinion is the best for self defence, but in real fight moving moving is very important u dont want to stand in a one place
So the idea is, you go off balance to block a punch that could leaves you open for an elbow, and then move as fast as a bullet, to throw an ineffective elbow(you can't generate enough torque that quickly to do damage) and if you're lucky, you can move like superman, sweep, and punch them in the elbow... did I miss anything?
Wouldn't it make more sense to step inside and hip toss your opponent? Or step inside and throw an elbow/fist/knee?
it could be done, but aren't there better combatives?

I have to disagree about going off balance, I merely dropped my center. Also, you may notice my hip is loaded & my body's driving forward, this combination can create a lot of power especially with a strike to the short rips or to fold their hip. I don't like to try to step inside because that requires a level of prescience that I don't posses. The block & sweep I've used in real scenarios, I added the elbow cause it seemed like a good idea. Hope that helps your understanding of the demo.

look i am left handed so i would punch with my right wouldn't someone right handed use their left or they would be off balance i thought a street punch was a jab then followed by the dominant hand basically a one two

I've always used street punch to mean a haymaker or John Wayne punch. I've had punches thrown at me on the street on several occasions and this was always the punch they used. The entry's sort of irrelevant. Unless you get some warning, it's going to be whatever your natural reaction is. That's why I like to train lot's of different entry's so I don't get caught off guard.

Cool technique, however couldn't you just throw a low attack WHILE slipping or ducking said punch, sorta like a counter instead of "swimming?" then attacking?

Absolutely. I think the response is greatly affected by how much warning you have, but as long as it's effective and ends the aggresion, there is no wrong response. Thanks for the comment.
