its just a shaped charge.. not invented by the US but around WW2 times.. its the same technology that every anti tank rocket launcher (the rockets warhead that is) uses.
and by the way.. the metal isnt even melted into this high velocity slug by the heat.. its more formed into a jet by the pure pressure of the a very fast high explosive

we (the US) designed the EFP. its used in mining, oil drilling and anti-tank cluster bombs. they just found a cheaper way to duplicate it

did you see the misile that went right to the rightside of the screen , well that is the objet that cut tanks humvees bradleys and any single american war machine like a hot knife in butter , this explosions are horrible

I doubt they are supplied by Iran. EFPs are not that hard to make. It would be cheaper for the Iraqis to make them themselves rather than smuggle them in.
