Why should your PS3 and your old games be worthless? Your PS3 won't stop working just because PS4 is released. It is technically not possible to add a PowerPC compatibiblity to an x86 Plattform. Sony would have to add a full PS3 "into" the PS4 as they did with the old, first PS3 (there was an PS2 Chip in it). And that would make PS4 much more expensive. So: If you want to play your old games, just play them on your PS3.

Better comparability, perhaps better community? Don't have to worry about malware(I hope)! Plus its not fun moving a big ass gaming pc into my living room to play on my giant tv and probably can't play multiplayer(splitscreen) for party games etc... Yes PC gaming is better if you have a decent pc and probably better for the money(if you have alot you may never wanna leave your screen better!!!). Although without 128 guy servers onf bf4 maybe its worth just getting a good gaming pc mine is old

Your PC can not play Uncharted, God of War, Killzone, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Last of Us, Gran Turismo, Little Big Planet, GTA V, Red Dead Redemption, Resistance, Jack and Daxter, etc etc. Boy your PC is an isolated device that a few people with extra time care about. If you are serious about games come to Playstation- for children, teenagers, adults and every other person. You don't even have to be a hard core gamer to be an excellent choice for your living room.
