British mining industry in WW2 part one of four

The British mining industry had been in decline following WW1 but suddenly huge amounts of coal were needed to keep war industries moving. This is the story of the miners in world war two - many of whom were conscripts - forced to go down the mine when many would have preferred to have been fighting.

With almost one film per day, one may be forgiven for thinking I do nothing else but I do have a day job as well. I have produced almost 600 original films, most in English but also in Polish, French, Italian, Spanish and the occassional hint of German and Hebrew. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!

God knows what they were bitching about,would they rather get cut in half my an MG42 or blown into vapour by an 88? They should have counted themselves lucky as no doubt most of their friends didn't even get to be buried in English soil.It does beg the question though why Bevin didn't draft in all the conscripts from the areas local to the mines who would have been happier to be safer underground than the whining sissies who never got their hands dirty from the towns and cities of the southeast.
