"The God That Failed" is the tenth track from Metallica's 1991 self-titled album. The song was never released as a single, but was the first song of the album to be heard by the public. It was one of Metallica's first original releases to be tuned half a step down.

@mojo2981995 it was actually me that put the SHITE comment(I didn't know I was on her acct.)and the reason I put that wasn't that I didn't like the song, I think lyrically first and musically second that it's actually one of their best imho, I put that because this is falsely titled"official music video" I can guarantee Metallica had nothing to do with the making of this video, which makes it decidedly "UNofficial" and has nothing to do with the meaning of the actual song itself.

@mojo2981995 i wasn't sure what you were talking about when i read this in my inbox as I'm a huge metallica fan. i had to scroll back through the comments and then saw "shite" as a comment made from my account. not sure who posted that and if you go to my account you'd see that i have many metallica videos on my favourites and even a few uploaded. and not in to beiber! thanks.

This song is about James losing his mother...he was raised as a "scientific" Christian, meaning his family believed EVERYTHING came from God..."oh, you got a good grade in school? That's because of God".....his parents had split up when he was young, and then his mom passed shortly after..."The God That Failed" outlines how betrayed he felt by God when he lost his mother, and how he was angry that God didn't save her...It has NOTHING to do with atheism or anything of the sort at all.
