Cannonball Plane

One of the best aviation stunts in cinema history. I seriously doubt that any of this could be duplicated today because of the danger, skill required, and hassle it would be to get a permit to do this. This is when stunts were actually performed, not generated in a computer.....much more impressive.

November 2009: I'm happy to report this plane is still cruising the skies today.

The Western Auto store on the square is now a barber shop. I get my hair cut there every month. great movie. :)

The stunt pilot did a great job. I was stunned the first time I ever saw these scene's because I instantly knew it was real, the town, streets, plane.The aircraft is a Maule M-5, a fabric-covered high powered work horse. They are excellent Arctic Circle bush planes.

Thanks for the post! This is in my home town of Covington Georgia, And believe it or not everything is just like it was then except for the store where they got the Beer, it was torn down for a parking lot.
