This trailer doesn't do the film justice, this trailer wouldn't have made me want to watch it, but my friend made me watch it with her and it is an amazing film, despite this rubbish trailer

The movie is 100x better than the trailer. I never read the book, but I know for a fact that a book is always better, because it is YOUR interpretation.The movie is great, one of my favorites. It is truly beautiful, so don't worry about it ruining your views on the book. If you love the book, you should always love it, even if you end up not liking the movie as much.
