I used to breed horses but i don't anymore. Now I just teach.

She was raised out on 160 acre pasture with 30 other horses. So she can grow strong bones run and play with other foals.

The treating does get less. Once the horse has learned the task 100%. We move on to something else. I use clicker training for unlearned tasks. Once she has learned it, she now needs to learn to maintain it. We are building her confidence for other tasks ahead.

Thank you. The important thing is to set the tasks up so she can succeed. The more she stays scared the longer that will stay with her. So I set her up for success so she doesn't have a chance to get scared and then get even more defensive.

This was an amazing video. What a difference is so little time. I really like clicker training. Other methods are so awful, I saw a man using a whip to scare his filly so she knew who was boss when it came to feeding time. How useless is it to have an animal be scared of you when you can get the same results while building a strong bond between horse and trainer.

P.S. Do you breed your horses to train and sell?

it seems that the treating has gotten less with the building up of this fillys confidence, has it and why?  thankyou for this video series! i am going to learn more about clicker training! I think i might try applying this to the training of our heifer who will be our familys milk cow... thanks!

Wonderful video series and horsemanship. Two quick questions- what are you treating with (any suggestions for something highly palatable/smelly for an extremely cautious filly like this?) and how would you react if she aggressively bit you or whirled and kicked? Thanks again for making this!
