That's true! well, Giuditta Pasta was said to have a darker color and she was more comfy in the middle register, she had a high D though and a low A.

Everyone's right who posted that Norma was written for Giuditta Pasta. She sang mezzo roles earlier in her career but switched to the soprano repertoire later. Norma needs to hit many high C's but also has to hit many middle C's, as well. When you become familiarized with the role, you can hear what Giuditta Pasta must have sounded like. Like Callas, she must have had an extraordinary range: dark on the bottom and brilliant on the top.

Yes, it is true that she has stated in recent interviews that she still has a high F. Her voice has not deteriorated at all, as is the case with almost all other sopranos over 60. But although she doesn't sing the Queen of the Night anymore, she still hits F's and even F#'s when she sings Zerbinetta live.

According to herself she still can, but doesn't in public...
In concerts and performances she frequently goes to E flat (sustained!!).
